Intro of who we are---
Hi, I’m Keith Gelhar. I grew up fishing and paddling from my father's 17ft. Grumman aluminum canoe. When I purchased my first kayak in 2004, I rediscovered my love for the quiet sport of paddling and fishing. Only this time I could make head-way in a strong wind. I guides on local inland lakes for bass, northern and pan fish. I specialize in fishing for salmon and trout on Lake Michigan where trolling is the predominant method used to locate and catch fish.
I’ve been fishing for salmon on Lake Michigan since 2004 and in that time I have learned a lot on what works and what doesn’t from a kayak. I’ve competed and won first place in the Salmon-A-Rama /Big Fish Bash(kayak division) three of the five years I’ve competed.
"Safety, knowledge, and a good time is what we offer. Come enjoy the slower and silent pace of a kayak, along with heart pounding in your face fishing action!"
Our boats---
We use very stable and comfortable Native Watercraft ultimate 14.5 kayaks. Our kayaks are fully equipped with what you will need for your day on the water.

Where we fish----
Lake Michigan--We specialize in fishing lake Michigan for salmon and trout. And I’d have to say that this is my favoitite type of kayak fishing. There’s nothing quite like the one on one battle of a large king salmon screaming line off of your reel and taking your kayak for a short ride. This is a much different experience then catching fish from a large charter boat. Trolling is the method we generally use to catch fish here.
Big Muskego lake—More catail marsh then open water, this lake is rich with wildlife and can produce a lot of action with northern pike and largemouth bass. Her you can paddle your kayak throw pockets of cattails to reach fish other power boats can’t. While paddling on this lake you may see ospreys , yellow headed black birds, terns, swans, ducks, geese, muskrats, and on occasion beaver.
Expectations ---
Before we begin your trip we will make sure you are familiar and completely comfortable with paddling your kayak and using the fishing equipment provided. We of course will be their throughout the day to demonstrate and answer any questions you might have. Safety is our #1 concern out on the water so our kayaks are equipped with navigation lights for low light fishing. We put an orange flag on our kayaks for better visibility on open water. Each kayak will have a horn, whistle and VHF radio supplied (for Lake Michigan). We do our best to put you on fish and enjoy the overall experience of kayaking.
